Living Traditions Festival- A culinary experience

Last year Angie and Ryan invited us to Salt Lake's Living Traditions Festival and it turned out to be one of our favorite events all year. We went this year and made it a culinary experience by having a little food from each country represented until we got too full to continue. We started off with Thai Red Curry (now I understand the obsession some people have with Thai food) and cleaned our palets with Basque churros (for those of you who don't know like me- Basque is a country by Spain
Then we had some Tibetan food which turned out to be a mix of Indian and Chinese food.
No, we did not stop there. Brad saw a sign for Mango Sticky Rice which he raved was the best dessert ever. We got that from the Cambodian booth.
Finally very full but thirsty we had a refreshing Mango drink from the Tongan booth
Happily full we enjoyed some of the performances, one of which was a band made up of refugees from Sierra Leone which was formed in the refugee camp during the war. Music brought them hope and soothed their pain when everything they had was destroyed.
Did I mention this festival is free- what a great way for people to becomes more
multiculturally sensitive and try some yummy foods.

Happy 30th Birthday Brad!

For Brad's 30th birthday we took a road trip to Portland. After spending countless hours trapped in a car with this boy I can attest that he may be 30 years in age but is still a little boy at heart-sometimes much to my chagrin. We stayed with Travis and Rozzie and Lynn and Janson and their fun families. Thanks guys it was a great trip. Happy Birthday Brad!
