February 2022

February started out with a yummy Chinese dinner at our favorite Chinese place to celebrate the year of the Tiger- any excuse not to cook. We made some creative Valentines- this year Bee's for "Bee my valentine." Brad and Mary tried skiing for the first time in a long time- it was quite comical getting used to it all but after a few rounds on the bunny hill we picked it up enough to go down green hills and some blue. The boys continued the Saturday morning band tradition- with Carter creating his own handsfree microphone and stage on the couch and singing at the top of his lungs. We had a fun Valentines day with a yummy pecan roll breakfast and valentines exchanges. Carter loves to get ready for school- backpack, lunch box, pjs, and slippers, and has now made his own computer so he can do his work like dadda. We had some fun superhero playtimes and had a fun playdate with Hannah at the museum. On President's day it finally snowed in the valley and so we took advantage of the small amount of snow for a sledding day with cousins- with the steepness of the hill, the kids went flying. Carter discovered he loved sledding and impressed us all with how many times he walked up the steep hill with Inez so he could go again. Mary's birthday week started with a scoop of Love Potion 31, and then a date night/dinner and concert with Brad. We went to Cheesecake Factory downtown and walked over to the concert at Eccles Theater. Seeing Slash and Miles Kennedy so close was epic. It snowed one more time so we were able to fit in some more sledding- Carter's new favorite activity. And on Mary's bday we brunched with Mom and Dad J and then Brad and Mary tried cross country skiing for the first time ever! What a February full of new experiences! Our favorite Carterism this month was when Carter was playing with his "guys" he earned from potty training rewards and saying in his best bad guy voice and laugh "I'll go to the Mooooon ha ha ha ha". Jefferson made us laugh when he fell and got back up and said "Superheroes never get hurt." And we got a good laugh when at the dinner table Mary commented "For whatever reason Carter has been obsessed with Satan (in scripture stories) lately." and Brad responded "Probably because he is possessed by him several times a day." We are in the depths of potty training and have been praying for bowel movement success daily as well as laughing with all the "poop" songs on youtube. May we have more success the month to come.
