2020 December

What a memorable Christmas season we had. The kiddos sang Jingle Bells nearly every day after we put up the tree they were so excited all month! With covid things were a little different and we adapted some of our traditions, let go of others and found some new ones. We did craft projects and made a gingerbread house with grandma and grandpa, This was the first Christmas Jefferson was really excited about Santa and easily talked with him and Carter said "Santa" when he saw him- though from a car. We went down town to see the giant gingerbread house and candy windows and instead of seeing the lights like normal (as they were closed), we had a lovely lunch at Little America- something we now want to do each year. We introduced the Muppet Christmas Carol this year and played Scrooge delivering Christmas to a family in need. It was so fun to see Jefferson help pick out gifts, wrap them, and try to hide while delivering them- again something we want to now do each year. We found the Christmas star and Jefferson said he could see it better with his binoculars. Aunt Marce came over and we made our Christmas cookies and did our singalong. Mama finished her 2000 piece puzzle of Cinque Terre. We saw lots of light shows at houses around the valley and checked out the lights at Gateway and the light tunnel at Vivint. Christmas Eve the kiddos dressed up and acted out the nativity in grandma and pop pops yard. Jefferson and Carter were both a wiseman this year and then we had a yummy Christmas Eve dinner at home and watched our traditional It's a Wonderful Life. Each night of December we did our nativity scripture and so by Christmas Eve we had our nativity completed. Jefferson made sure Santa had a cookie and a carrot for the reindeer and then Dada read The night Before Christmas and off to bed. Christmas morning was lovely. Both sets of grandparents came over to watch the kiddos open their gifts and then we had a delicious brunch. We did some zoom visits with family and had a relaxing day. We saw one more light show at night. For new years this year we celebrated "noonyears eve" and played games with grandma and pop pop- again something we now want to do every year in order to protect bed time. Our favorite Jeffersonism's this month were "Dadda you are the smartest guy in the world" (when Brad found a box to fit all of the games). Our favorite Carter moment was Carter spontaneously practicing "ho ho ho" to sound like Santa. And we loved the boys daily loud off tune singing together and making up words for Jingle Bells, Rudolph, and Frosty the Snowman. We hope for a 2021 of peace, health and healing for our world.
