Our baby is 1! We had a fun little celebration and made smores and had a little bbq. Jefferson was so cute with Dixie and LOVED the car/push cart Grandpa & Grandma D gave him and liked to stand by the sensory table Daddy and Mamma gave him. He did not like the cake though... but really liked the wrapping paper and tissue paper especially when we used it to make him a cape and he got to fly like superman. On his actual birthday he had his first Baskin Robins birthday ice cream cone and we celebrated with a dinner out. He really liked playing with his birthday banner- though may not have registered its significance.
Jefferson is toddling all around and loves to play in the water, play chase, play guitar with the "baby proofing rubber bands" and most of all loves his wand he got at the 4th of July celebration. He like to walk around with it and looks like he is casting spells.
He graduated to a bigger car seat and had his first dentist appointment. He really likes sitting forward like us and he did really well for his first dentist appointment. We wanted to take him early so he doesn't get so scared like so many kids.
This year for Thanksgiving Jefferson got to take his first flight to Florida. He did great on the plane and his hair loved the humidity. He liked basking in the sun on Thanksgiving day and dangling his feet in the pool. Unfortunately towards the end of our trip we both got sick but sweet Aunt Anne and Auntie Amy nursed us back to health. We love our Florida family and are grateful we got to share Thanksgiving with them this year!
Our favorite moment in Florida was going to the beach. At first Jefferson didn't know quite what to think about the sand and waves but quickly adjusted and then fell in love with the ocean and wanted to walk on his own right into it. He does not love mamma holding his hand- he is a big boy and wants to prove it by walking on his own. If only he would learn to prove it by holding his own bottle. This trip to the beach was very special because it was the place I stood a year ago praying to god to watch over this little baby boy and his birth mom. After letting it all go- and giving it to god I was filled with incredible peace, It was at that moment Jefferson's birth mom called Brad back in Utah and asked if we were still interested in the adoption. Going to the ocean has and will always be a sacred experience and memory for me and my baby. I'm so grateful I got to introduce him to the ocean this year.
