So sad to say goodbye to summer 2020 but despite the pandemic we really had a fun time. We started August with our annual Unbirthday Party for the boys and this time we had a Zoo theme. We had water activities, painted animals, and played pin the monkey on the tree. Our magic candle from Mexico made the boys jump. We tried to hike to waterfalls and swim each week. Jefferson jumped from the diving board and swam across half the pool to Dada at our family pool party, Brad and Mary made 117 the record for "hit the beach ball across the pool game." We chalked up the back yard and Carter decided it was more fun to eat the chalk rather than draw. Jefferson made a race track and raced his cars. We had a beach day and camped in our back yard and made tin foil dinners and yet again the tent was a bounce house. Our garden grew a ton including our giant sunflowers and each week we enjoyed the bounty. Jefferson asked just about everyone to play chess with him- especially grandpa. We raced boats down the creek and played pirates. Carter ate his first green tomato- that he picked and loved. Our cherry tomatoes were gone faster than we could pick because of 2 little boys who snacked while they played. After a strenuous hot hike to Waterfall Canyon, Jefferson tasted his first slurpy from 7-11 and was a FAN! One random Friday night we heard drums from the park and discovered our neighborhood had a covid family band, so we got to continue our longstanding summer tradition of an outdoor concert. Our Dennis family from California came to visit and we had lots of family time. We celebrated Dad Dennis' 80th birthday and it was lovely. And at the end of the month before kindergarten started we celebrated Jefferson's graduation from preschool. What a smart fun boy. We gave him a book about space (thanks Tia) and he has been soaking it up since. Our favorite Jeffersonism this month was "I am dada's minnion and Carter is my little minnion." And we will never forget Carter's wheels on the bus tantrum of 2020 screaming "willsbus" until someone would sing another verse. It reminded us of Jefferson's wheels on the bus tantrum when he was 3 and having to sing 7 verses before he fell asleep. Ay...that song.
