April 2022

April started out with March madness finals. Jefferson and Carter got super into the games and started playing Kansas vs North Carolina games everywhere-including the map of the US in their room at night which made us all laugh. We enjoyed Harry Potter literacy night at Jefferson's school and got super excited to read the books when we finish Narnia. The boys had a great time decorating the Easter tree and playing hide and find the Easter eggs throughout the house. Brad got away for a guys night and got to see an awesome rock concert and meet the band. Carter and Mama read all the Eric Carle bug books and then made a spider- that we were promptly informed by Jefferson was not a spider because it only had 6 legs. Carter decided his new favorite thing is to use his scissors and make small cuts in papers he can find. We celebrated Easter week by making carrot cup cakes, an Easter craft, and dying eggs. We got to see one of the final Grizzly hockey games, and the boys started playing hockey with bouncy balls at night. Easter fun continued with the annual Jefferson family Easter egg hunt and golden rod and then of course Easter Sunday picture and our own egg hunt. We had a lovely Easter dinner with our Dennis family and then Brad and Mary flew off to New England for an adventure and the boys spent the week with grandparents. Though Carter had some potty training regression while mama and dadda were gone he was so happy to come back home and see all of his stuffed animal friends- he set up a pizza party and a few days later was back on track with potty training. Brad and Mary felt a little guilty being gone so long so we declared the day we got home "Kids Day" and the boys got to choose lunch, dinner, and activities all day. They loved it so much that Jefferson asked is we could have a "Kids Day" once a month. The rest of the month we had some fun dance and rock n roll jammie parties before bed where we learned Jefferson know the dab move. And of course it is not April without yard work. This year we were more on top of things and the weather cooperated so it never felt too overwhelming. We even found a birds nest with some eggs. Mary ended the month with a cousin's baby shower and got to visit with cousins and aunts and see grandma. Our favorite Carterism this month was when we asked Carter if his tummy was still hungry and he lifted up his shirt and bent his head to his tummy to say "tummy are you hungry." Jefferson has a month left of 1st grade and is impressing us with his mind and the deep questions he asks like "does an older brother or sister give genes to a new baby like the parents." So grateful for these boys!
