February 2017

Why does time go by so fast? One minute I'm holding this precious little baby and now I have a 2 year old running around negotiating his bed time. And this child is quite the negotiator. I find myself (a behaviorist!) giving in to his sweet requests because he says "please mama" and uses almost full sentences and looks at you with those big brown puppy dog eyes. And then the manipulator (that is what a behaviorist is of course) becomes the manipulated. We had a fun February. We introduced the concept of feelings to Jefferson and you would often catch him saying "appy!.. sad... feeyings" He doesn't quite understand how to use it in context but its a start. Jefferson has been a sleepy head when we wake him up from nap and says "go back to bed, back to sleep" and then ends up sleeping on my shoulder for a good 5 minutes. I love it.

For Valentines we did some baking and delivering of our annual zucchini bread and Jefferson was a little baking assistant.

Jefferson also helped make valentines cookies with grandma and pop pop.

Brad took me dancing for Valentines. Loved it. And we were able to take a mini vacation to Las Vegas because one of his tutoring clients invited us and paid for our hotel. They also invited us to a classical music concert and then to an AMAZING Chinese restaurant. Probably the best Chinese food we have ever had- the roasted duck was unforgettable. We did the typical strip tour and saw 2 shows- Blue Man Group which was ok and Cirque de Soleil Michael Jackson which was amazing! We stood in line for over an hour at Carlos Bakery for some amazing treats. And I introduced Brad to Lobster Me- delicious.

We celebrated my 34th Birthday with shopping, ice cream, and more good food.

Jefferson got to spend lots of time with cousins this month. Laura and Jon were kind enough to watch him while we were in Las Vegas. He knows all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins names and gets so excited to see them. Dixie played dress up with him when they visited.

Jefferson learned the art of a somersault and a head stand this month and likes to practice with help. Some of our favorite Jefferson sayings this months are "wait a minit" "mama/dada weh AH you" "went bye bye" (when talking about something he does not want or lost) "uh oh SKEtios" we don't know who taught him that one- probably sesame street. He also likes to use mamas phone and pretend call Dixie and Grandma- he makes sure to say "Mama say hi Dixie, Mama say bye Dixie." He keeps us smiling.
