This January we waited and waited for snow. We made snowflakes and decorated the house on our proclaimed holiday January 2 Snowflake Day- thanks Daniel Tiger. We set goals for the year and made snowmen out of marshmallows (thanks Primary). But still no real snow, so we did lots of playing inside- science experiments, puppet shows, stacking cups, puzzles, and playdough. We taught Carter how to ride his balance bike- though he is still a little lazy with it and just likes to be pushed. And on civil rights day we went bowling- Jefferson had a granny shot to remember and Carter was fascinated with another way to play with a ball and knock things down. We decided snow may not be coming to us this month and took the kids up the mountains where we had some fun snow days sledding, building a snowman, making snow angels, and a snowball fight. We are hoping for more snow in February. Some of our favorite Carter moments this month were Carter now being able to say "Jefson" and then coming to us to tattle on him for hurting his feelings in toddlerese, Carter singing himself to sleep and Jefferson saying "Carter is so annoying", and Carter demanding apple juice when he saw the Costco olive oil container. And some of our favorite Jefferson moments were Jefferson playing a prank on dada by hiding all of his pants, playing a prank on mama by adding her socks to a decoration, asking mama "do girls wear girlfume to smell good?", and saying "there is still some light that the night time missed- it is beautiful" when he noticed the sunset.
