January 2022

This January was rough... everyone but Jefferson got sick. Carter lost his voice and said "I need a bandaid for my throat." He lost all of his energy and 3 year old moodiness and for a few days just wanted to be cuddled. Mary sprained her MCL and had to be in a brace for 2 weeks and our water heater decided to slowly die. We did manage to do some fun things, starting with new years goals. Jefferson decided he wanted to learn how to play the piano this year and started lessons with mama. Carter was encouraged to decide he is going to use the potty and we started Potty Training- Take 2 but this time much more relaxed. We finished the Christmas puzzle Angie let us borrow and found 1 piece was missing. We had our snowflake party and ate yummy German food. With distance learning days Carter and Jefferson started playing school and we awoke one day to Carter in his pajamas all ready to go to school- back pack on and lunchbox in hand. We went sledding in the mountains and had a snow ball fight, but the snow was too powdery to make a snowman. We went to a Utes gymnastic meet with cousins. We went to the Discovery Museum with Dixie and Liam. We made some mazes for the remote control cars in the basement. Jefferson and Brad decided the funnest game is RC car tag. Mary cashed in Jefferson's Christmas coupon gift for a special dinner and had a mama son date where Jefferson got to taste Dr. Pepper for the first time. Jefferson is now starting to read to Carter and Saturday morning's now find them cuddled up in mama's bed with a bunch of books. And we ended January on a high note- in the mountains for a winter scavenger hunt hike. 6 more weeks of winter- we are ready.
