We have played and played and played some more this past June. We started the end of school/beginning of summer celebration with SOJO fest and checked out the batting cages and miniature golf, and the carnival rides. Carter graduated from mama school (but every now and then says he misses it, which makes this mama's heart melt). And Jefferson graduated from 2nd grade. The last day of school we gave them a letter and a few fun things to start the summer and danced to "Schools out for Summer". We checked out the rest of the SOJO fair and held butterflies, Jefferson climbed, and Carter completed spider man training and we saw the coolest Michael Jackson concert. Somehow Carter wandered off for a minute and we had 10 scary minutes until we found him- 10 minutes that put all of our problems in perspective. We celebrated churro day and met cousins at the splash pad. Cousin Forrest came for a sleepover and Jefferson and he created a miniature golf course. We started our summer hikes with Ensign Peak and checked out Memory Grove- where we had our engagement pictures taken. We made strawberry jam- Jefferson was our Jam helper. Cousins Dixie and Liam came for a sleepover and we did some fun painting. Our next hike was to Bells Canyon and we found a beautiful scene with a mama duck and her ducklings on the lake. Each week this summer we have tried to go for a bike ride around the lake and on our way we stop by the basketball courts- the boys have enjoyed practicing their slam dunks. We also have been playing pickleball, walking up to the farmers market on Saturdays, and of course enjoying our weekend concerts. We celebrated our nephew Hayden's wedding and welcomed his bride Sophie to the family. We had some more splash pad fun with cousins and celebrated fathers day with waffles and a water dodgeball game. Cousin Jane came for a sleepover and we did some baking and crafting. We had a Lagoon day with cousins and Jefferson went on all the big coasters he was tall enough to go on- he said his favorite rides are Cannibal and Rattlesnake Rapids. We attempted a hike to donut falls but our massive snowfall this winter made it impossible to cross the river without getting waist deep wet. We had a fun birthday week for Carter with a "rock" concert, don't break the ice with our Dennis family, a hike to Stuart Falls (this time 85% fun/15% misery- improvement from last year), laser tag, swimming, and ice cream. On his birthday Carter got a Captain America suit and shield (his favorite) and a blow up band (for all of his rock n' rolling and album releasing-a few a week now). He said he wanted to do rock climbing on his birthday because he was 5 and now old enough to go and impressed us getting 4 bells and of course for dinner he wanted a happy meal. Cousin Hannah came for a sleepover and the kids made lego creations. And we ended the month with a movie in the park- always a summer favorite. Mary finished the 90s puzzle and is ready to start a summer puzzle- just in time for our hot weather to start. We loved the cool weather we had in June- though it made for shorter times at the pool. Carter is now like a fish in the water (miracle, miracle, miracle!), and even swam 8 feet on his own on his birthday. Jefferson wants to play, swim, and do everything. Looking forward to more fun this summer.
