November 2023

November was a month of gratitude for us. At dinner each night we said our gratitude moment and put them in our gratitude jar which we read on our way to the Dennis Family Thanksgiving dinner. Carter's list was full of animals and random but important things like the floor, Jefferson's was very conceptual and thoughtful with things like the justice system. It was such a fun way to make gratitude intentional this month. We celebrated Jefferson's birthday week with personal pizza's, a birthday book, a family arcade night, Mcdonald's birthday dinner, Harry Potter and Monopoly fun, and a piano recital for grandparents. The snow didn't come too soon this year so we got to play in leaves and the boys came up with creative ways to get them in the garbage. Brad and Carter perfected downward "bug" and commemorated the moment of mileage 111,111. We finished our autumn puzzle and celebrated Pre-Thanksgiving with our Jefferson family- complete with a jammie karaoke party. We had our own short turkey bowl and had another Thanksgiving with our Dennis family. We decorated for Christmas, and the boys remembered how fun it is to play with all the Christmas things. We wrote our letters to Santa and sent them on their way. We met up with Grandma and Pop Pop to pick out some gifts from the Giving Machine, and we had our fun downtown night with the gingerbread house, lights, and candy windows. At the end of November poor Jefferson broke his wrist playing goalie at the church (playing with older boys). He was a trooper and just wanted to be cuddled and now has broken 3 bones! Mary had a much needed girls night out with cousins at the magical Christkindlemarkt- all ready for the Christmas season. Our favorite Jeffersonism this month was when he came up to Mary very seriously and said "Dada often has to be reminded that he is not a kid." Ha ha ha Brad is an expert at avoiding oldness! And a few favorite Carterisms: Brad and Carter were watching a video of cops arresting some criminals when Carter asked "are they bad guys?" Brad responded "yeah they're bad guys." and Carter said "wait... they aren't bad guys. How come they aren't saying mwahahahah?" Another Carterism, when he came to us with a very concerned look saying "I think I'm missing a bone?" He then pointed to his stomach and said "there is no bone here on my tummy." And lastly Carter's new favorite phrase of condemnation, (thanks to Bluey)  "Oh biscuits!"
