A Los Cabos Adventure

We were so lucky to have a trip to Cabo San Lucas- just the two of us. It was so romantic- like a second honeymoon! A huge thanks to amazing parents for watching the kids and our neighbor for watching Bella.

Day 1 we managed all the travel and relaxed for the afternoon poolside with tacos. We stayed at the golf resort (thanks to Josh and Mary getting us a deal). We love checking out grocery stores in different countries so were happy to stock up on some local cheeses, fruits, panaderia sweets, mango flan and even found mole empanadas.

Day 2 we brunched at a nearby resort and after a 90 minute presentation opted not to buy a time share but enjoyed a day of fancy resort life and got some local recommendations for restaurants . We wanted to watch the sunset at a nearby beach so we checked out the dock and found our way to the people's beach. We climbed the start of Lands End and watched the sunset and then took a taxi to Las Tres Islas. We ordered the local recommended fried red snapper and coconut shrimp. The red snapper was Amazing even though it literally was an entire fish- fins and head still intact and eye looking up at us. We walked along main street, checked out a few clubs and realized that is not our scene, wandered into a few shops and helped the Mexican economy. LOL

Day 3 we started with a taste testing of guanabana. Brad said it remined him of the same fruit in Brazil. We took a drive to La Paz to check out the turquoise warm water. On the drive we were amazed at the sea of huge cacti with mountain backdrop. After missing a turn we followed google maps to get back on the highway and ended up entering the highway on a exit ramp- all safely done but we were shortly pulled over and in the middle of the desert had to bribe the police not to take Brad's license to headquarters (which wasn't open). You haven't had a full Mexico experience till you have to bribe the police. Thankfully $60 made everything magically smooth over and we were on our way- grateful for our Spanish speaking abilities. The beach at La Paz was beautiful turquoise water and we swam in the ocean together the first time since our honeymoon 16 years ago. We had cold mariscos (seafood) for dinner and loved it all- octopus and clams included. And the atmosphere was super fun with a mariachi band and dancing. On our drive back we stopped by Todos Santos and checked out the artsy town and calm fisherman's beach.

Day 4 we were headed to Medano beach when Brad noticed we had a flat tire. So saying 1000 thankful prayers that our flat tire was at the resort and not in the middle of the dessert, Brad proceeded to change the tire with the help of some hotel staff and then we headed to a llantera (tire shop) to get the tire fixed. $7 later, we were on our way to the beach. We took a water taxi (which ended up being a private tour) to see the arch and Lovers Beach. We kissed in the cave where 2 go in and 3 come out (hence the name lovers beach) but realized we liked Divorced beach more- the Pacific side. The waves were huge and we enjoyed mango and coconut watching the crashing waves. Our water taxi was supposed to pick us up after an hour but 2 hours later when the beach was closed because the water was too choppy our boat showed up and getting onto the boat was a memory. The guide yelling, "Orale orale" and Brad ninja jumping onto the boat. So fun! After a walk along Medano- helping out the Mexican economy some more we cleaned up and had a romantic dinner date at Campestre- the best carne asada we have ever had. Wow.

Day 5 we relaxed all day and took a beautiful sunset dinner cruise at night. We danced on the top of the yacht and enjoyed the sunset views. After we enjoyed the dock at night, found a pirate ship for our boys, and had fresas con crema for dessert.

Day 6 we decided to check out some less crowded beaches but first wanted a pic of the traditional artistic stairs of our resort. We stopped by the panaderia for breakfast and discovered a unique selection of candy bars and taste tested the raspberry Milkyway. We found a secluded beach on the pacific side near Todos Santos, perfect for morning yoga and a long walk on the beach and skipping stones. We found lots of pelicans hanging out on the Todos Santos beach and found a perfect spot for a nap. The waves were so strong here, we found a puffer fish on the beach. We spent the afternoon checking out the art in Todos Santos and had dinner at the Hotel California- mole. and chile relleno filled with shrimp and scallops. So yummy. We ended the evening with ice cream and a perfect sunset on the beach.

Day 7 we were planning to go parasailing but the wind was too strong so we took one more boat ride in a glass bottom boat and saw a school of fish and a sleeping seal. Of course we had to help out the Mexican economy some more and relax relax relax the afternoon away. Our last dinner date was Tacos Guss- again probably the best tacos we have ever had.
