April 2023

This April we tried our best to welcome in spring, though it was still snowing outside and didn't get warm till the end of the month. Jefferson started the month at school as leader of the week for his class and his Dennis grandparents came for a fun grandparents day. They were impressed with how well he could read. We decorated for Easter with our Easter egg tree and then said goodbye to the snow with one last sledding afternoon. Carter went to a few b-day parties and got to go go-carting and play laser tag for the first time. He was a big fan. Brad and Mary checked out The Spoke- mountain bike parks in daybreak and Mary decided mountain biking is like skiiing- green hills please. We colored Easter eggs and celebrated Easter with a quick family pic after church before everyone changed and then searched for our baskets in the house before having an Easter egg hunt outside. This year we put coins in the eggs and Jefferson impressed us with counting all his money and Carter's and then wheeling and dealing to sell some toys to Carter so he could pay off what he owed on his new bike. And Jefferson and Carter loved their special plates with their names on them from mama for nice Sunday meals. Mom and Dad Jefferson and Dennis came over for a lovely Easter dinner. It was a beautiful day. After seeing Jefferson's new bike, Carter declared it was time to for him to have a bike with peddles. The first few days he was in tears a bit, trying to get used to it, but after a few attempts he started getting it and now slowly will go all the way around the park. Jefferson impressed us with the presentation he did for his class on computers and coding. He likes to play around on the coding website we found and his entire class loved what he could do. After a few snowed out games, we started soccer and Jefferson and Carter both made a goal in the first few games. Carter made his goal in the rain and he said "mama I love playing soccer in the rain." We had our annual Jefferson family Easter egg hunt- 3 yards and too many eggs. Our Easter gift was seeing the Mario movie- which Carter and Liam had planned since seeing the preview at Christmas- and kept asking "when is Easter" till it came out in theaters. We made it to a Bees game, and saw them win. Poor Jefferson got his second bout of strep throat the last week of April so Carter and mama went out for a mama date where he met Thor and Captain America and we got to try out The Crack Shack- yummy. Our favorite Carterism this month was the rock song he wrote and kept singing over and over "I'm here forever." We are so used to him singing and pretend rocking out and Jefferson happily reading on his bed, we take it for granted that they can easily entertain themselves. And now we are looking forward to some warmer weather.
