France Day 6

Our mission on Day 6 in France was to drive to the Paris airport, drop off the rental car, take the train to our hotel in Paris city center and check in. Mission accomplished by afternoon and we were off to see the sites of Paris. Traveling involves so many logistics and Brad is so good at understanding and figuring out all of them. How to get from one town to another with all of the roundabouts, how to pay for everything, how to speak enough of the language to get our needs met and so much more. I would be lost in a foreign country without him. Navigating the metro in Paris was a maze- especially figuring out the direction once we were out for our hotel, this was much more difficult than the metro systems we explored in NYC, Istanbul, Rome, or DC. But alas we found our way around. First place we visited was the Arc de Triumphe (the arc Napoleon built for his army to walk through after their conquest) and we were happy to discover we were on the Champs-Elysees. We took an afternoon stroll down the Champs- Elysees and looked at all of the fancy Parisian shops. Spring fashion was displayed and it was fun to see the latest trends and colors. We visited the famous Jeff de Bruges chocolate shop and I got the best rich amazing hot chocolate I have ever had in my entire life. We walked the entire Champs-Elysees enjoying a break in the gardens to the Place de La Concode- the place where the stood.

And like all tourists we then turned around and walked to the Eiffel Tower. It was so much  fun to walk in the city and see the bustle of Paris. We took a much needed nap on the benches by the Eiffel tower and munched on some snacks.

We then decided to explore the left bank, buy a picnic dinner and enjoy it at the Luxembourg Gardens. Only problem was we did not estimate the distance very well and ended up walking a lot longer than we had anticipated but we saw some fun sites and more of the local Parisians lifestyle. Brad was especially impressed by the Parisian architecture and an old bank. When we finally found the Luxembourg Gardens we ate our dinner and explored for a little before it was sundown and we were whistled out by the police. Thankfully we found a metro stop right by the exit and quickly made our way back to our hotel and fell asleep after a long day.
