The next day we were shaken but determined not to give terrorists any power by living our lives in fear. We decided to go to Versaille and take a step back in time to the 17th century. Because of our extended stay in France we decided to buy a Paris Museum pass and have a few cultured days. It was fun to explore Versaille and stand in the famous Hall of Mirrors where the Treaty of Versaille was signed and shaped Europe after WWI- Brad was especially excited about that. Angie and I had been watching a silly show about Mary Queen of Scotts and I was impressed to actually find the Prince of Conde as one of the thousands of statues in the halls of Versaille. Marie Antoinette's Petite Trianon was very different than the rest of Versaille and her English gardens were especially charming and so different than the parallel style of the French gardens. Walking around Versaille and seeing it's opulence made you better understand the motivation for the French revolution. Why a few people lived in such opulence while thousands suffered and starved could motivate the unthinkable, and as history shows it did. Versaille ended up being a full day and we went back to our hotel to eat and rest for the night.
